Veteran actor Romanus ‘Natty’ Amuta dies aged 79

Veteran Nollywood actor, Romanus Amuta, popularly known for playing Natty in ‘New Masquerade’, is dead.

He was aged 79.

The first son of the deceased, Dr Chukwuma Amuta confirmed the death of the veteran Nollywood actor in a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Enugu.

Amuta described the actor as a caring father who did his best to raise his children.

“Yes! My father died this morning in Lagos after a protracted illness,” he said.

Amuta was an indigene of Ukana in Udi LGA of Enugu state.

The actor started his career in the media landscape and worked with Daily Times newspaper before delving into the movie industry.

He came into the limelight after featuring in the ‘New Masquerade’ — which was one of the most popular TV series in the 80s.

Amuta is survived by Cordelia, his wife, and six children.
