Social media influencer Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has called on rapper and activist Folarin Falana, also known as Falz, to drop the defamation lawsuit against him and unite in the fight against corruption in Nigeria.
VeryDarkMan’s post comes after his recent appearance before the House of Representatives on September 30, where he discussed the alleged ₦15 million bribe paid to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to drop money laundering charges against Bobrisky.
In a post on his Instagram page, VDM addressed Falz, saying that if he witnessed the proceedings at the House of Representatives investigative panel, he would understand the level of corruption and shift focus from the lawsuit.
VDM expressed that his intention was never to defame Falz’s father, the renowned human rights lawyer Femi Falana.
VDM wrote, “@falzthebahdguy, if you see the nonsense going on here, you will drop the lawsuit so we can focus on the bad eggs trying to destroy the country. They are exposing themselves here. Don’t get it twisted, your father is my father in this struggle. If you were here, you would understand. I would never defame Baba FF. Bless up, man to man, God bless you.”
He continued, “I wish everyone could see how deeply corruption has eaten into our system. @falzthebahdguy, this is not about us; it’s about the EFCC and the Correctional Centre. Your father, Femi Falana, remains our father in the struggle. Much love.”
The lawsuit in question stems from a previous incident in which Falz and his father threatened to sue VDM for defamation.
This followed VDM’s sharing of an audio conversation, allegedly between controversial personality Bobrisky and another man, claiming that Femi Falana was involved in securing a presidential pardon for Bobrisky in exchange for ₦10 million.
Falz denied the allegations and clarified that he had only spoken to Bobrisky when the crossdresser called him for financial assistance.
Bobrisky also denied being part of the audio, claiming it was generated using AI technology.
