Controversial social media personality and critic Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has fulfilled his pledge to finance a new video for Eedris Abdulkareem’s politically charged protest song, ‘Tell Your Papa’.

The original version of the song was recently banned by the Nigerian government, drawing significant public attention.

The National Broadcasting Commission placed a ban on the track, labeling it as improper and disrespectful.

However, the censorship only amplified interest in the song, with many rallying behind Abdulkareem’s message.

In reaction to the ban, VDM took a stand against the government’s decision, arguing that the lyrics conveyed genuine truths.

VDM took to social media to announce his intention to support the creation of a second video for the song.

“Dear, Eedris Abdulkareem, we are going to shoot another video. This time, we will sponsor it. I will be in the video. We will also look for Tinubu’s lookalike since we can’t get the President to be in the video. We will remake the video, ‘Tell Your Papa 2.’ Then, we will also highlight other problems,” he declared.

On Monday, April 14, VDM shared evidence of payment made to cinematographer Shalom Chiki Uyi, who is set to handle the visual direction of the new project. The transaction was captioned, Eedris Abdulkareem Tell Your Papa remake. VDM further wrote, “It is about to go down and the legendary shalomchikifilms is behind the cam and guess the director, Seyi Tell your papa.”

Meanwhile, the controversy around the song escalated when Abdulkareem revealed in a video that an unnamed politician allegedly attempted to bribe him with 200 million naira to silence him.

The rapper claimed he rejected the offer and remained steadfast in his resolve to speak out against injustice.

Despite the ban and alleged bribery attempt, both Abdulkareem and VDM appear undeterred, with plans underway for the production of Tell Your Papa 2, which promises to expand on the issues raised in the original.
