The United States Department of Homeland Security has announced plans to deport 79 Nigerians listed on its ‘worst-of-the-worst’ criminal list, as part of President Donald Trump’s intensified immigration crackdown.

Findings on the DHS website on Monday revealed the individuals were convicted for offences including fraud, drug trafficking, assault, manslaughter, and robbery.

An official note on the website stated: “The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is highlighting the worst of the worst criminal aliens arrested by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Under Secretary Noem’s leadership, the hardworking men and women of DHS and ICE are fulfilling President Trump’s promise and carrying out mass deportations, starting with the worst of the worst, including the illegal aliens you see here.”

Some of the named Nigerians include Boluwaji Akingunsoye, Ejike Asiegbunam, Emmanuel Mayegun Adeola, Bamidele Bolatiwa, Ifeanyi Nwaozomudoh, Aderemi Akefe, and Solomon Wilfred. Others listed are Chibundu Anuebunwa, Joshua Ineh, Usman Momoh, Oluwole Odunowo, and many more spanning several pages of the published list.

The Trump administration has continued its aggressive campaign against criminal and undocumented immigrants. Last week, Saturday PUNCH reported that many Nigerians in the U.S. have gone into hiding or are secretly returning home due to increased enforcement actions, including house-to-house raids by Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers.

These sweeping measures have sparked widespread panic, debate, and protests across American communities, especially following recent deadly incidents involving federal immigration agents.
