American singer Selena Gomez and music producer Benny Blanco are officially engaged.
Gomez shared the happy news on December 11 with an Instagram post featuring a close-up of her marquise-shaped diamond engagement ring. “Forever begins now,” she wrote, while Blanco humorously commented, “Hey wait… that’s my wife.”
The announcement included photos from their engagement celebration, showing Gomez on a picnic blanket with champagne and Taco Bell in the background.
Gomez and Blanco have been publicly together since December 2023, but their professional relationship goes back further. Blanco produced several of Gomez’s hits, including Same Old Love and Kill Em with Kindness in 2015 and *Single Soon* in 2023.
In an earlier interview with Vanity Fair, Gomez expressed her love for Blanco, saying, “I’ve never been loved this way. He’s just been a light in my life. He’s my best friend.” Blanco echoed similar sentiments during an appearance on The Howard Stern Show, saying, “When I look at her, I think, I don’t know a world where it could be better than this.”
The couple has been open about their unique approach to their relationship. “We always make sure we’re protecting what we have, but there’s no rules,” Gomez shared.
Industry friends flooded the comments with congratulations. Taylor Swift joked, “Yes, I will be the flower girl,” while Jennifer Aniston, Gwyneth Paltrow, Cardi B, and Lil Nas X also shared their excitement.
Despite the engagement, Gomez has made it clear that one tradition won’t change. “I’m not changing my name no matter what. I am Selena Gomez. That’s it.”
