A spirited exchange played out on social media platform X on April 13, 2025, as British-Nigerian rapper Skepta, born Joseph Junior Adenuga, responded humorously to a viral post comparing his style to that of controversial internet personality Hushpuppi.

The original post, which appeared a day earlier on April 12, showcased side-by-side photos — one of Hushpuppi from 2019 and another of Skepta in 2024. Both were seen wearing a grey, quilted jacket with a similar bold pattern. The caption read, “Hushpuppi 2019 Skepta 2024,” with a follow-up comment, “Egbon don live people future,” suggesting that Hushpuppi had been ahead of his time in fashion and implying that Skepta was now adopting a similar look.

In response, Skepta took to X on April 13 with a light-hearted remark:
“Lol One thing I will teach my pikin is to never argue with a Nigerian.”

His humorous take on the situation, avoiding any direct confrontation, struck a chord with many Nigerian users online, who appreciated the cultural nod to the nation’s reputation for lively and passionate discourse.
