US rapper Rich Homie dies at 33, cause of death under investigation

US rapper Dequantes Lamar, popularly known as Rich Homie Quan, has died at the age of 33.

The hip-hop artist, who gained fame in 2013 with his hit single “Type of Way,” reportedly passed away in Georgia on Thursday.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office confirmed Quan’s death, stating that they were notified by Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.

The exact cause and manner of his death have not yet been determined, and an autopsy is scheduled for Friday, September 6, 2024.

In a brief statement, the Medical Examiner’s office said, “On Thursday, 5 September 2024, the Fulton County Medical Examiner was notified by Grady Memorial Hospital of the death of Dequantes Devontay Lamar. An autopsy has been scheduled for Friday, 6 September 2024.”

Born on October 4, 1989, in Atlanta, Rich Homie Quan was a prominent figure in the trap music scene during the 2010s.

He collaborated with some of the biggest names in the industry, including Gucci Mane, 2 Chainz, YG, Young Thug, and Trinidad James. Quan was known for delivering tracks with intense emotion and passion, which resonated with his fans.

His career took off in 2013 when “Type of Way” climbed to No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking his entry into the mainstream music scene.
