American gospel singer and pastor, William McDowell, has survived a car accident after his vehicle collided with a black bear on his way home.
The pastor of Deeper Fellowship Church shared details of the incident on Instagram, saying the accident happened shortly after he dropped his children off at school.
“I was praying while driving home after I dropped my kids off at school and a huge black bear ran out of the woods into the road right in front of me, straight into my car and I hit it,” McDowell wrote. “I didn’t even have time to swerve or hit the brakes. All of my air bags deployed and my car is totaled!”
He explained that the bear ran away after the crash, leaving him shocked but thankful to have walked away unharmed.
“It was the largest black bear I’ve ever seen. The craziest part is the bear ran off! I know for sure that this was a demonic attempt on my life but IT FAILED! I walked away. Some don’t,” he added.
McDowell, known for hit worship songs like “Give Myself Away” and “Withholding Nothing,” said the accident reminded him of God’s protection, quoting Psalm 34:7: “For the angel of the Lord is a guard; he surrounds and defends all who fear him.”
He also revealed that his friend, Pastor Dharius Daniels, had recently survived a similar accident, calling for prayers for pastors.
“I encourage you to pray for your pastors whoever they are. We need it,” McDowell said.
