Chairman/CEO, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa has celebrated Mr. Nnamdi Chukwuocha on his re-election into the legislative council of Delaware State House of Representatives.
The 49-year-old African-American poet was first elected as a Democratic member of the Delaware House of Representatives, representing District 1 in 2018 after defeating incumbent Charles Potter Jr. in the Democratic primary race.
Chukwuocha’s re-election was unopposed as he won 100 per cent of the votes with 7,640. He holds a bachelor’s degree in history and a master’s degree in social work from Delaware State University
Reacting to the win, Dabiri took to her official Twitter handle to celebrate Chukwuocha whose twin brother Albert Mills (popularly called Al Mills) is married to an Igbo lady.
Dabiri tweeted, “Yes, Nnamdi won a seat into Delaware state legislature. However, he is African American. (He has a twin brother ) He married a lovely Nigerian ( Igbo ) lady , believes he is Nigerian based on his. DNA, and changed his name to a fully Nigerian name. So , yes we can claim him.”
“And yes. He won his re-election unopposed,” she added.
