The United States has delivered military supplies to Nigeria to boost security cooperation between both countries.

The delivery was confirmed by the United States Africa Command, AFRICOM, which oversees US military operations in Africa.

In a post on X on Tuesday, AFRICOM said the supplies were handed over to Nigerian partners in Abuja.

“U.S. forces delivered critical military supplies to our Nigerian partners in Abuja. This delivery supports Nigeria’s ongoing operations and emphasizes our shared security partnership,” AFRICOM stated.

However, the command did not disclose the type or quantity of the military equipment delivered.

The development comes amid continued security collaboration between Nigeria and the United States.

On Christmas night, US forces carried out airstrikes in Sokoto State, targeting Islamic State-linked militants allegedly working with the Lakurawa jihadist group and local bandit networks.

The airstrikes followed diplomatic tension after allegations of violence against Christians in Nigeria.

US President Donald Trump had described the situation as “genocide,” a claim that was strongly rejected by the Nigerian government.
