The United States Army has promoted a Nigerian-American, Amanda Azubuike, from Lieutenant Colonel to Brigadier General.
The ceremony held at a military base in Fort Knox, Kentucky, USA.
The commanding general of the US Army Futures Command, General James E. Rainey, celebrated her previous feats while conferring the honour.
Newly promoted Azubuike was born in London, immigrated to the US, settled in Arkansas, and enlisted in the army where she served as an aviator, personal assistant to commanding officers both in and out of combat, and a public affairs officer.
