Cristiano Ronaldo returned to Old Trafford with a bang by scoring on his second Manchester United debut against Newcastle United.
The 36-year-old started for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men who struggled to break the visitor’s defence.
Ronaldo however broke the deadlock with a tap in at the death(45+2′) after Mason Greenwood’s shot was fumbled by the goalkeeper.
Solskjaer’s men go into the break with a goal ahead.
A sloppy start to the second half cost the hosts their lead as Allan Saint-Maximin teed up Javier Manquillo for the equaliser in the 56th minute.
However, Ronaldo restored United’s lead six minutes later after an assist from Luke Shaw.
More to come…
