A businessman, Balarabe Habibu, has been remanded in prison over the alleged defilement of a nine-year-old boy.
Habibu on Wednesday appeared before a Magistrates’ Court sitting in Kano for committing an unnatural offence, contrary to Section 284 of the Penal Code.
The Chief Magistrate, Muhammad Jibril, ordered the remand of the accused in prison, pending an advice from the Kano State Director of Public Prosecutions.

Jibril adjourned the case until Sept. 20 for further mention.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Pogu Lale, had told the court that one Murtala Sa’idu of Zango Kaya Village in the Ungogo Local Government Area of Kano and his ex-wife, Aisha Khalid, reported the case at the Jakara Police Division, Kano on July 6.
“On the same date, the complainants noticed their nine-year-old son was not walking normally.
“When they questioned him, the victim told his parents that the accused lured him to different places to have carnal knowledge of him,’’ Lale said.
Habibu, 41, residing at Dullurawa Quarters in Kano, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
