In a bid to curb indecent dressing among male and female students, the management of the University of Lagos has introduced a dress code for the students of the institution.
This new dress code was made public through a notice pasted at strategic places in the school on Monday, February 6, 2017.
According to the new directive, students are advised to maintain a clean and well-cared for appearance in all settings on campus. While wearing of tight, strapless and revealing clothes or clothes whose length are above the knees are termed ‘inappropriate’.
It was stated clearly that lecturers and administrators are empowered to correct/exclude students from lectures and official business when they are not properly dressed.

The move by the school authorities has been hailed by some students, while others have condemned it, calling it barbaric way of running a higher institution of learning.
We hope this would not lead to protest and closure of the university.
