Nigeria’s premier University, the University of Ibadan, Oyo State has started the production and sales of rice, according to online reports.
It was reported that the cereal is being produced by the Faculty of Agriculture and packaged into bags branded with the school name and sold at relatively cheap prices.
According to a Facebook post by one Toba Bankole, a 10kg bag of rice costs N4,000 while a 25kg bag costs a sum of N9,500.
The commodity is said to be available at UIshopwell, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ibadan.
This will serve as good news to Nigerians as the demand for rice is expected to rise during the Yuletide.

Another post on Bankole’s Facebook page shows another rice, Igbemo rice, allegedly being sold at the Shopping mall in Ajah, Lagos.
This is coming after the Tin-Can Island Command of the Nigeria Customs Service intercepted a 20ft container of “ready to eat foods’’ like Egusi Soup, Jollof Rice, Ogbono, Yam Porridge imported from India.
