United Nigeria Airlines has announced that the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Olorogun Festus Keyamo (SAN), will lead a high-profile delegation on its inaugural commercial flight to Ekiti State on Tuesday.
The airline said the maiden service, which will depart from Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, marks a significant milestone in boosting domestic air connectivity and advancing its commitment to opening new and economically strategic routes across the country.
The Abuja–Ekiti route will operate into the Ekiti Agro-Allied International Airport in Ado-Ekiti, introducing a new phase of air travel access for the state.
According to United Nigeria Airlines, the new service offers a faster, safer and more convenient travel option for residents, investors, government officials, students and visitors.
UNA said the development is expected to stimulate economic growth in Ekiti by enhancing tourism, commerce, agriculture and the creative sector, all of which have continued to expand in recent years.
The airline noted that the initiative aligns with its broader strategy of improving mobility and connecting underserved destinations nationwide.
Speaking ahead of the event, UNA management said its decision to begin operations in Ekiti was driven by rising demand for improved connectivity and the airline’s commitment to supporting the state’s development agenda.
The airline reaffirmed its focus on maintaining robust safety standards, delivering quality customer service and ensuring reliable operations across all its routes.
“We are excited to bring United Nigeria Airlines’ signature warmth and dependable service to the people of Ekiti State. This route will strengthen regional accessibility and create new opportunities for business, leisure, and socio-economic growth,” the airline said.
The inaugural flight will feature prominent aviation stakeholders, government representatives, traditional rulers and business leaders who will join the carrier in commemorating the expansion of its network.
UNA said it remains fully prepared to serve Ekiti residents and provide a seamless, comfortable travel experience as it continues to broaden its reach across Nigeria.
