United in dialogue with ‘unhappy’ Cavani over rumoured exit – Solskjaer

Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that the club is keeping an open dialogue with striker, Edinson, amid exit rumour.


The former Paris Saint-Germain star has been tipped for a move to Boca Juniors by his father who told the Argentine press that the striker is unhappy at Old Trafford and is planning a summer exit.
Luis said that his son, 34, is eyeing a move to Boca Juniors in order to be closer to home.

Despite Luis’ claim that the former Atletico Madrid man is unhappy at Old Trafford, Cavani himself came said that he is ‘proud’ to wear the Manchester United shirt.

However, in a press conference on Friday, Solskjaer revealed that the striker whose deal expires at the end of the campaign is unsure about staying at the club next season, the United have the option to extend the deal by a further year.

However, the extension must be agrees by both parties before United can activate it.

“I’ve kept in touch with Edi, of course, and we keep an open dialogue,” said Solskjaer. “He’s still unsure what he wants to do next season, which I find fine.

“It’s not been an easy year either for him or the rest of the world this season, so he still wants time to make his mind up.

“I’m very sure that we’ll get a good version of Edinson for the rest of the season,” said the Norwegian.

“He knows that this is the business end of the season, where we fight for the Europa League trophy and we can see the end line in the league.

“He’s been so positive in and around the place, he’s been great to have.”

Speaking ahead of United’s crucial tie with Tottenham on Sunday, Solskjaer said, “I think the players will remember that game with a lot of pain and their pride has been hurt, our professional pride’s been hurt.

“The way and the manner we lost is not ourselves and we know that. We gave ourselves a difficult game by having 10 men.

“Pre-season was short and we weren’t up to the standard required, but we were so poor and I’m pretty, pretty sure we’ll see some players wanting to prove that we’re better than that.”

United suffered a 6-1 hammering in the first leg as Anthony Martial who may not okay again this season was sent off in the 27th minute with the score at 2-1 for a retaliation against an Erik Lamela’s elbow.

Solskjaer would be banking on Cavani as second-placed United hope to keep maintain their four point lead over Leicester City.
