UNILORIN introduces paternity leave for male staff

Published

The University of Ilorin has announced the introduction of paternity leave for its male staff, according to Mr. Mansur Alfanla, the Registrar of the institution.

Alfanla disclosed this update in Ilorin during a conversation with journalists, emphasizing that it is part of the university’s recently amended Conditions of Service.

The Registrar highlighted the significance of the inclusion of paternity leave as one of the most notable improvements to the university’s working conditions.

He emphasized that this addition aligns with contemporary workplace practices that recognize the importance of achieving a balance between work and personal life.

“Paternity Leave is for serving male officers whose spouse delivers a baby. The period of the leave shall be 14 working days. Where the family of a male officer adopts a child under four months old, the officer will similarly enjoy paternity leave for a period of 14 working days,” Alfanla explained.

He underscored the need for staff members to familiarize themselves with and adhere to the updated conditions, ensuring that the introduction of paternity leave contributes to creating a supportive and balanced work environment at the University of Ilorin.
