The University of Ilorin has entered into a strategic partnership with the North-China University of Water Resources and Electric Power in Zhengzhou, Henan, China.

The collaboration was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding signed in China, as reported by the University of Ilorin Bulletin on Monday.

This MoU aims to establish academic linkages and foster educational collaboration between the two universities. It will promote cooperation in various fields, including education, research, and cultural exchange.

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Egbewole, and his counterpart at the North-China University, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective institutions during the First Exchange Mechanism Conference of the China-Africa Consortium of Universities and the China-Africa Higher Education Dialogue, held in Beijing from September 5 to 7.

Unilorin is among the 100 African universities selected to participate in this program, which is designed to strengthen educational ties and enhance knowledge exchange between African and Chinese universities.

The partnership will pave the way for joint research projects, student and staff exchanges, and other academic activities that will benefit both institutions.

Speaking at the MoU signing ceremony, Prof. Egbewole emphasized the importance of cross-cultural academic exchange in today’s globalized world and affirmed Unilorin’s commitment to the partnership.

He highlighted the potential for both universities to leverage their strengths in research and education to address global challenges, particularly in water resources and electricity.
