Umahi suspends council boss over alleged involvement in Ezillo crisis



Ebonyi Governor, David Umahi, has suspended another council boss in the State.

Umahi over the weekend approved the coordinator of Ishielu Development Centre, Mr. James Abba over his alleged involvement in the crisis that led to the death of some ‘innocent citizens’ at Ezzillo community.

In recent times, Ezzillo community has been embroiled in crisis where properties worth millions of naira were destroyed and several lives including those of road users lost.

Umahi announced the suspension in a statement signed and forwarded by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Ugbala Kenneth Igwe on Sunday.

The statement reads in part: “The Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi, has approved the suspension of the Coordinator of Ishielu Development Centre, Hon James Abba, with immediate effect.

“The suspension is as a result of his alleged roles in the Ezillo crisis that has claimed the lives of some Ebonyians.

“Consequently, Hon James Abba is directed to hand over all government property in his possession to the Secretary to the State Government not later than 4 pm today, 15th August 2021,” he stated.
