Ukraine: Man Utd cut ties with Russian sponsor Aeroflot over invasion

Manchester United have cut ties with Russian airline Aeroflot amid the invasion of Ukraine by Russian forces.

This comes in the wake of President Vladimir Putin’s decision to invade Ukrainian territory which has led to the death of hundreds of Ukrainians on the first day of the attack.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Friday said 137 civilians and military personnel had been killed 316 people have been wounded in the country on the first day of the Russian invasion.

UK Metro reported that United have been in a partnership with the airline since 2013.

A club spokesperson said: “In light of events in Ukraine, we have withdrawn Aeroflot’s sponsorship rights. We share the concerns of our fans around the world and extend our sympathies to those affected.”
