British-Gambian rapper J Hus has released the much-anticipated music video for his latest single, ‘Gold’, a collaboration with Afrobeats star Asake.
Produced by P2J, with the visually striking black-and-white video premiering on Monday.
The nearly four-minute video opens with Asake delivering his distinctive Yoruba-infused verses, seamlessly blending traditional sounds with a modern edge. The scene then shifts to J Hus performing surrounded by multiple versions of himself, a creative visual symbolizing self-reflection and dominance in the rap world.
Filmed entirely in monochrome, the video intensifies the song’s themes of luxury, resilience, and relentless ambition. The sharp interplay of shadows and light adds dramatic tension, complementing the confident lyrics that celebrate success and perseverance.
In ‘Gold,’ J Hus and Asake trade verses about wealth, loyalty, and staying connected to their roots. The artists sing, “Every ring I’m wearing is gold / They’re calling me Gaddafi / Don’t bend, don’t break, don’t fold / It’s a bad boy gangsta party / All my niggas’ sticking to the code / You get a Rolliew, AP, Carti’ / Dem boys say they’re really on road, how comes I see them hardly.”
J Hus first gained attention in 2015 with his breakthrough hit ‘Dem Boy Paigon’ and has since released several chart-topping singles including ‘Did You See,’ ‘Must Be,’ and ‘Play Play.’ His artistry has earned widespread recognition within the music industry.
Asake, born Ahmed Ololade, rose to fame in 2020 with the hit song ‘Lady.’ The Afrobeats sensation was nominated for the 2025 Grammy Awards in the ‘Best African Music Performance’ category but lost to fellow Nigerian artist Tems.
