British Transport Police have charged a 32-year-old man, Anthony Williams, with 10 counts of attempted murder following a stabbing incident on a London-bound train that left several passengers injured.

Williams, from Peterborough in central England, was also charged with actual bodily harm and possession of a knife in connection with the attack, which took place on Saturday evening.

Authorities confirmed that Williams faces an additional count of attempted murder and knife possession linked to another incident in London earlier the same day.

Tracy Easton of the Crown Prosecution Service said investigators reviewed a large amount of CCTV footage and other evidence during the probe.

“We know the devastating impact the events on Saturday’s train have had and how the incident shocked the entire country. Our thoughts remain with all those affected,” Easton said.

Ten people were taken to the hospital after the attack, with four later discharged. One of the victims, a rail staff member who tried to stop the suspect, remains in a life-threatening condition.

Williams is expected to appear in court in Peterborough later on Monday.
