A United Kingdom-based Nigerian man, Elvis Nosakhare, has been sentenced to six years in prison for sexually assaulting the underage daughter of his girlfriend.

Thames Valley Police said the 41-year-old met the victim’s mother through an online dating platform and later abused the girl, betraying the trust of the family.

The assaults happened in the Thames Valley area. After an investigation by the Child Abuse Unit, Nosakhare was charged and tried at Aylesbury Crown Court. He was found guilty of two counts of engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a child and three counts of non-penetrative sexual activity.

On July 29, the court also ordered that Nosakhare be placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life. A restraining order was also issued against him.

Detective Constable Bryn Smith, who led the investigation, praised the victim for speaking up.

“I want to commend the victim for her bravery throughout both the investigation and court proceedings. I hope that this conviction offers her some sense of justice,” he said.

Smith added that Thames Valley Police is fully committed to supporting survivors of abuse and making sure that offenders face the law.

Nosakhare lived on Sheelin Grove in Bletchley before his arrest.

His conviction comes just weeks after another Nigerian, Adewale Kudabo, was jailed in the UK for sexually assaulting a patient while working as a healthcare assistant at York Hospital.
