General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the 49-year-old son of Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, has stirred online discussions after expressing his admiration for Nigerian singer Ayra Starr, 22.
In a tweet that quickly went viral, Kainerugaba humorously declared, “My late Grandfather…Mzee Amos gave me permission to get any woman on earth! I will capture that girl…Ayra Starr.”
Kainerugaba, Ugandan military officer and Chief of Defence Forces of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces is known for his outspoken social media presence.
However, his comment about Ayra Starr drew mixed reactions, with many criticizing him for objectifying women.
Social media users across various platforms shared their opinions on the tweet.
Larry Madowo commented, “Uganda’s military chief – and President Museveni’s son – publicly thirsting over a woman 28 years younger than him.”
Kaihura George wrote, “Women are not items to capture. Go capture locusts to burn and sell.”
Chris Ochen responded humorously, “I love it when you take every social media post from Gen as something serious… let the next president enjoy his social space.”
Another user, ArtByOreo, quipped, “He should focus on his family and maybe order a portrait for them too… 500ksh only.”
Others called out Kainerugaba for his behavior, labeling him a “clout chaser” and accusing him of “engagement farming.”
Some criticized his leadership role, with one commenter stating, “So display of this mentality is still the one leading the military in Uganda… SMH.”
While many condemned the general’s remarks, others dismissed them as playful banter. A user, Tindi Jeffrey, defended him, saying, “Let the next Ugandan president enjoy his social space. Don’t be too serious on these streets.”
Fans of Ayra Starr, popularly known for her hit songs like Rush and Bloody Samaritan, have also voiced their opinions, with some urging her to ignore the remarks.
