UCL: Young Boys beat 10-man Man United 2-1

Published

Manchester United take a 1-0 halftime lead in their opening Group F Champions League match against Young Boys at the Stade de Suisse.

Cristiano Ronaldo gave the visitors the lead in the 13th minute after a sublime assist from his countryman, Bruno Fernandes.

The hosts showed little respect for the Premier League giant as they kept pushing for an equaliser with a free-flowing intent.

United were however reduced to 10-men five minutes after the half-hour mark when Aaron Wan-Bissaka a clumsy tackle on Christopher Martins foot.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer introduced Diogo Dalot for Jadon Sancho who had not been convincing on the pitch to cover Wan-Bissaka’s dismissal.

The hosts almost capitalised on the one-man advantage but Christian Fassnacht’s volley unsurprisingly didn’t find the back of the net.

United survived the scare as and went into the break a goal up after two attempts on target apiece from both sides although Young Boys had eight shots so far while the visitors have two.

Nicolas Ngamaleu equalised for the hosts in the secknd half before Jesse Lingard’s blunder allowed Siebatcheu the late winner.
