UCL: Osimhen returns for Napoli, set for Madrid showdown

Published

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, making his long-awaited return from injury, is poised to spearhead his team’s charge against a Real Madrid side grappling with player absences in a crucial Champions League encounter on Wednesday.

Despite both teams already securing their place in the knockout stages, the match at the Bernabéu promises to be a captivating affair as both sides seek to assert their dominance and claim top spot in Group C.

Osimhen’s impactful cameo in Napoli’s 2-1 victory over Atalanta last weekend, providing an assist, signals his readiness to make a significant contribution against the Spanish giants.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has acknowledged Osimhen’s threat, describing him as a “complete attacker,” and has devised strategies to neutralize his attacking prowess.

Having triumphed in the first leg with a scoreline of 3-2, Real Madrid will be eager to maintain their winning streak against the spirited Partenopeans.

Napoli coach Walter Mazzarri welcomes the return of Osimhen, bolstering his attacking options as the team strives to upset the defending champions.

Ancelotti, in an interview with Napoli magazine, highlighted the attacking prowess of Napoli’s key players: “Kvara is formidable one-on-one, Osimhen is a complete attacker, very strong with his head and in transitions.”

Real Madrid, though facing injury concerns to some of their key stars, remains confident in their squad’s depth and ability to overcome the Italians.

In other Champions League Group Stage matches, Galatasaray will host Manchester United, while leaders Bayern Munich welcome FC Copenhagen.

Arsenal, currently at the top of Group B, will host Lens, while Sevilla face PSV Eindhoven at home.

In Group D, Benfica will host Inter Milan, with Real Sociedad entertaining FC Red Bull Salzburg.
