UCL: Lukaku brace keeps Inter hopes alive after 3-2 win over Mönchengladbach

Romelu Lukaku bagged a brace as Inter defeated Borussia Mönchengladbach 3-2 to open up qualification chances in Group B.

Inter who languish at the bottom of the table now with five points and would need at least a win to stand a chance to qualify for the next round.

The Italians had gone ahead in the 17th minute after Matteo Darmain opened the scoring but the home side levelled up few minutes to the break, thanks to Alassane Pléa (45+1′).

Lukaku gave the away side a 3-1 lead in the space of nine minutes after netting his first in the 64th minute and completed his brace in the 73rd minute.

Mönchengladbach’s Pléa managed to pull one back for the home side in the 75th minute but it was not enough to avert the defeat.

Gladbach are top on eight points from five games, one ahead of Shakhtar and Real Madrid after the Ukrainians earlier beat the visiting Spaniards 2-0. Inter have five points.
