Real Madrid were held to a 1-1 draw by Chelsea in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final clash at the Alfredo Di Stéfano Stadium on Tuesday night.
The Blues proved to be a handful for the hosts as they reduced Madrid to just one shot on target throughout the entire game.
Optajoe reported that since 2003-04, only versus Paris Saint-Germain (0) in September 2019 have Madrid had fewer shots in a UEFA Champions League game.
Christian Pulisic stunned Zinedine Zidane’s men when he gave the visitors a deserved lead in the 14th minute to become the first American to score in the semifinals of the competition.
Madrid, however, refused to go down without a fight as they pegged an equaliser before the half-hour mark to level up.
Karim Benzema made the most of a loose ball from a resulting corner kick and drove in the equaliser with an acrobatic finish.
The second half was tensed between both sides with Chelsea being the more dominant but both teams failed to produce a goal to steal the game.
Nonetheless, Chelsea would be looking to build on the all-important away goal as they head back to Stamford Bridge next week for the second leg.
