Music executive Ubi Franklin has responded to accusations by singer Spyro, who claimed that Ubi used Davido’s name to secure a performance deal in Ghana and failed to pay him after the event.

Spyro’s allegations, made in a viral interview on Wednesday, included claims that Ubi convinced him to perform at a birthday party in Ghana by implying Davido had requested it. He also accused Ubi of withholding payment from the deal.

In an Instagram live session on Wednesday, Ubi dismissed Spyro’s claims, calling them “misinformation” aimed at tarnishing his image.

“I will not allow anyone to destroy my name,” Ubi said. He also denied ever using Davido’s name to manipulate deals, stating, “Why would I tell David’s friend who is a growing artiste that David said when I know you have direct links to him? This doesn’t make sense.”

Turning the spotlight on Spyro, Ubi alleged that the singer owes him ₦10.5 million as a commission for a car purchase he facilitated. According to Ubi, Spyro agreed to pay him 10% of the car’s price after completing the payment.

“You made a 50% down payment for the car and finished paying in December,” Ubi explained. “You said I should wait until you completed the payment, and now you’re yet to honor the agreement.”

Ubi admitted holding onto $5,000 meant for Spyro as leverage until the ₦10.5 million commission is paid.

On X, Ubi wrote: “Pay me my 10% from the car I helped you buy. I told you to pay me my 10%, and you said I should wait. I know you have finished paying since December. Kindly credit me the balance because I have $5,000 meant for you, and you have ₦10.5 million meant for me. If we do plus and minus, you owe me ₦2.5 million because $5,000 is ₦8 million.”
