The President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has accepted an invitation from Nigerian President Bola Tinubu to visit Nigeria later this year.

This was disclosed in a statement on Thursday by Bayo Onanuga, the special adviser to the president on information and strategy.

The invitation was extended during bilateral discussions between the two leaders on Wednesday night, held on the sidelines of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) 2025.

President Tinubu had traveled to Abu Dhabi on Sunday to participate in the global forum, which focuses on sustainable development and collective efforts to address challenges such as climate change, water, and energy crises.

During the discussions, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan thanked President Tinubu for accepting his earlier invitation to the UAE and expressed the UAE’s commitment to strengthening economic ties with Nigeria.

According to the presidency’s statement, the two leaders explored opportunities for investment in Nigeria.

“President Tinubu said his government’s economic reforms are yielding results, stabilizing and growing the economy,” the statement read.

The Nigerian leader emphasized that these reforms have attracted foreign investments, including billion-dollar commitments from international oil companies, and called on the UAE to partner with Nigeria to further boost economic growth.

President Tinubu expressed gratitude to Sheikh Al Nahyan for the warm reception extended to him and his delegation since their arrival in Abu Dhabi.

President Tinubu was accompanied by key Nigerian officials, including Minister of Foreign Affairs Yusuf Tuggar, Minister of Finance Wale Edun, and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu.

On the UAE side, Sheikh Al Nahyan was joined by several top officials, including Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs; Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs; and Minister of State for International Cooperation Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy.
