Air defense systems in the United Arab Emirates intercepted incoming missiles and drones launched from Iran early Tuesday, according to the country’s Defense Ministry.

“UAE air defenses are currently dealing with incoming missile and drone threats from Iran,” the ministry said through US social media company X.

Officials explained that loud sounds reported in different parts of the country were caused by defensive operations.

The ministry confirmed that air defense systems were intercepting ballistic missiles, while fighter jets were deployed to shoot down drones approaching the country.

The incident comes amid rising tensions across the region following a joint military operation carried out on Feb. 28 by the United States and Israel against Iran.

The attack reportedly resulted in the deaths of more than 1,200 people, including Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

In response, Iran has launched multiple drone and missile attacks targeting Israel as well as Gulf nations that host American military facilities.
