U.S Deputy Treasury Secretary to visit Nigeria



Wally Adeyemo, the Nigerian-born United States Deputy Treasury Secretary, is gearing up for a significant visit to Nigeria with the aim of strengthening economic ties between the United States and the West African nation.

During his visit, Adeyemo is scheduled to engage with key government officials, business leaders, and representatives from various sectors.

The visit coincides with Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu’s ongoing efforts to revitalize the country’s economy through a series of reforms.

The U.S. Government expressed its enthusiasm for this visit in a statement on WordPress, stating, “We are excited to announce that the Deputy Treasury Secretary will soon be making a highly anticipated visit to Nigeria in a significant effort to strengthen economic ties between the United States and Nigeria.”

The statement emphasized the mutual benefits of enhanced cooperation, saying, “This visit comes at a crucial time when both countries have recognized the immense potential for collaboration and mutual growth.”

During his stay in Nigeria, Adeyemo is set to participate in a series of high-level meetings, with discussions centering on reinforcing trade relations, exploring investment opportunities, and addressing potential barriers that may impede the bilateral economic relationship.

Adeyemo, in an interview with The New York Times, expressed his personal and professional connection to Nigeria, stating, “It’s one of those opportunities to go to a place that means a lot to me personally, but also to go to a place that means a lot to me professionally, just given that Nigeria is Africa’s largest economy with a huge demographic boom.”
