American actor and singer Tyrese Gibson has turned himself in to police in Georgia after his dog was accused of attacking and killing his neighbor’s pet.

Police raided Gibson’s home in Fulton County on September 22, following reports that his Cane Corso dogs killed a five-year-old King Charles Cavalier Spaniel named Henry. The attack happened on September 18 after the dogs escaped from Gibson’s property and attacked the smaller dog in a neighbor’s yard.

Authorities said the spaniel was taken to a veterinary clinic but did not survive.

According to the Fulton County Police Department, Gibson’s dogs had been seen running loose several times in the week before the fatal attack. Police Captain Nicole Dwyer said the actor had been warned multiple times about his dogs before the incident.

“Our records show that warnings were issued to Mr. Gibson on several occasions prior to this attack,” Dwyer said.

Doorbell camera footage released by the sheriff’s office showed several Cane Corsos wandering near homes in Gibson’s neighborhood just minutes before the attack.

During the police raid, officers executed a search warrant on Gibson’s property. His grandmother, who was at home at the time, was briefly detained and handcuffed before being released.

Gibson was charged with animal cruelty but later posted a $20,000 bond and was released. He had been given until Friday to surrender himself, and according to jail records, he turned himself in just before 6 a.m. on the deadline day.

His lawyer, Gabe Banks, confirmed that Gibson cooperated with authorities.

“Earlier this morning, Mr. Tyrese Gibson voluntarily turned himself in to the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office to answer the misdemeanor warrant,” Banks said. “Earlier this week, his legal team worked with prosecutors and secured a consent bond for his release. He has now been processed and released. Throughout this entire process, Mr. Gibson has cooperated fully with legal authorities and will continue to do so until this matter is resolved.”

Police said that after the incident, a woman living nearby also called 911 saying she couldn’t reach her car because Gibson’s dogs were blocking her driveway. Animal control officers arrived and escorted her safely to her vehicle.

Officials said the case has drawn attention due to the repeated reports of Gibson’s dogs roaming the area before the attack.

On Instagram, the Fast and Furious star said the event had left him heartbroken and deeply sorry for his neighbor’s loss.

“This incident has left me shocked, devastated, and heartbroken for the family affected,” Gibson wrote. “As an empath, my heart hurts deeply for their unimaginable loss, and I’ve been trying to reach out directly to express my sorrow and condolences.”

The actor said he has since decided to rehome his dogs in a safe environment and is cooperating fully with investigators as the case continues.
