South African singer, Tyla, has made history by winning the first-ever World Artiste of the Year award at the 2025 iHeartRadio Music Awards.
She beat top Nigerian stars Tems and Burna Boy, as well as Central Cee and YG Marley, to claim the prestigious title.
The awards ceremony was held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Monday, March 17, 2025.
Tyla, 23, has been making waves in the music industry, especially after the global success of her hit song “Water.”
Her career has skyrocketed over the past year. She won a Grammy for Best African Music Performance and worked with international stars like Travis Scott, who featured on the remix of “Water.”

Apart from Tyla’s historic win, the awards night saw Taylor Swift winning Artiste of the Year, while Mariah Carey received the iHeartRadio Icon Award.
