Two suspected thugs, known as ‘Shila’ boys, have been arrested by the police in Adamawa State for allegedly threatening to kill a police officer.

The suspects, Hamza Ibrahim and Auwal Kolo, were accused of threatening the officer after a failed attempt to steal his mobile phone.

The incident happened when the police officer unknowingly boarded their tricycle from the Adamawa Unity Bridge, heading towards the former APC Secretary in Nasarawo Jimeta, Yola, the state’s capital. Instead of taking the officer to his destination, Hamza and Kolo diverted towards Ribadu Square.

As they headed to Ribadu Square instead of the APC Secretariat, Kolo reached into the officer’s pocket, grabbed his phone, and threatened to kill him. The officer and Kolo then got into a fight inside the moving tricycle. In response, the officer hit Hamza, who was driving, causing the tricycle to crash, leading to the arrest of the suspects.

Adamawa State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the arrest. He said, “The suspects, who have since confessed to the crime, will be charged to court for prosecution.”
