Two policewomen robbed in Ogun

Daredevil armed robbers on Wednesday attacked two policewomen at Iyana Ilogbo area of Ado- Odo Ota Local Government Area in Ogun State.

It was gathered that the police officers were on their way to work when the incident occurred.

The affected Police Officers were in mufti and got trapped in traffic at Sango area when the robbers pointed gin at them.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi in a statement said the two armed robbery suspects have been arrested.

Oyeyemi said the robbers, Hafiz Omidokun, 29, and Peter Babalola, 27, met their waterloo at the early hours of Wednesday morning after robbing the two female officers of their belonging.

The PPRO said,

“The women were driving in a car belonging to one of them from Ifo going to Sango Ota and on getting to Iyana-Ilogbo area, the two suspects suddenly double-crossed them with motorcycle and held them hostage with a locally made pistol.

“After collecting their bags and phones, the suspects were about to climb back their motorcycle when the two women officers engaged them in fighting and raised alarm.

“Having sensed danger, the suspects; Hafiz Omidokun 29yrs and Peter Babalola 27 took to their heels while the women officers with the help of passers-by gave them hot chase.

“Realizing that they were about to be caught, the suspects made an attempt to snatch another motorcycle for the purpose of using it to escape, it was there and then they were apprehended.

“They were about to be lynched by angry mob when the DPO Sango Division CSP Oyedele Nasirudeen who had earlier received the distress call arrived with his patrol team and rescued them to the station.

“Recovered from them are; one locally made pistol, one expended cartridge and a motorcycle.

“Meanwhile the Commissioner of Police CP Ahmed Iliyasu has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to Special Anti-robbery Squad (SARS) for discreet investigation”
