Two men arraigned for allegedly stealing Oyo govt bus

Two men, Mutiu Adeyemo, 50, and Michael Omidiji, 44, were arraigned on Monday before an Iyaganku Magistrate’s Court in Ibadan for allegedly stealing a bus belonging to the Oyo State Government.

The men, whose addresses were not provided, faced charges of conspiracy and theft, to which they pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecutor, Inspector Sikiru Opaleye informed the court that the defendants allegedly committed the offences on February 20 at 9:30 PM in the Ikoloba area of Ibadan. He alleged that the defendants took the bus, valued at ₦12 million, from its parking spot without the state government’s consent.

Opaleye stated that the defendants’ actions contravened Sections 516 and 390 (9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

Magistrate Olabisi Ogunkanmi granted the defendants bail at ₦500,000 each, with two sureties each in like sum. She adjourned the case until August 12 for a hearing.
