Saudi Arabia to allow 1,000 pilgrims to perform Hajj



Two pilgrims from Kwara State have passed away in Madina, Saudi Arabia, according to an announcement by the Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Board.

In a statement released on Sunday by the Executive Secretary of the Kwara State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Abdulsalam Abdulkadir, the board expressed deep sorrow over the deaths but submitted to the will of Allah. “The board deeply regrets these sad events, but submits totally to the decree and ultimate knowledge of Allah in all affairs,” Abdulkadir said.

The board extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased, praying for their comfort and for Allah’s forgiveness for the departed souls.

The first deceased pilgrim, Saliu Mohammed, who traveled with Batch 3 of the state contingent, died in an intensive care unit of a public hospital in Madina after a brief illness.

The second pilgrim, Hajia Hawawu Mohammed, who arrived with Batch 9, died following what Saudi authorities have determined to be an unfortunate suicidal incident from the rooftop of her apartment in Madina.
