The FCT Police Command has stopped an armed robbery attack in the Mabuchi area of Abuja.

The police said two suspects were killed and two others were arrested during the incident.

In a statement released on Friday, Police Spokesperson Josephine Adeh reported, “On sighting the police operatives, the hoodlums opened fire, which resulted in a gun duel. The police overpowered the robbers. Two suspects, Joshua Godfrey A.K.A. Dogo, 44 years old, and Abdulsalam Mamuda, 29 years old, both from Mabushi village, were arrested. The other two suspects were killed. Their blue Toyota Matrix operational vehicle with registration number BWR 626 JB was recovered.”

Adeh, a Superintendent of Police, added that the robbery attempt took place on Monday night. “Police operatives intercepted the gang while they were trying to steal a black Prado Jeep from its owner near Capital Hub in Jahi, Abuja,” she said. The robbers fired at the police, leading to a shootout where two suspects were killed and two were arrested.

The arrested suspects later led the police to another stolen vehicle, a red Toyota Corolla with registration number RBC 743 AH. “The red Toyota Corolla was likely stolen from another resident,” Adeh explained.

Recovered items from the suspects included weapons, cutlasses, daggers, scissors, and mobile phones.

FCT Commissioner of Police Benneth C. Igweh assured the public of the police’s dedication to protecting lives and property. He urged residents and medical facilities to report anyone with bullet wounds and to remain vigilant.

Residents are encouraged to use the police emergency lines to report suspicious activities: 08032003913, 08028940883, 08061581938, and 07057337653.
