The Bauchi State Police Command have arrested two persons over the kidnap and gruesome killing of a 15-year-old  pupil.

The victim, Abubakar Suleiman, is in his second year in the Senior Secondary School.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Bauchi State Command, Kamal Abubakar, who confirmed the incident, said the suspects were arrested in the state.

He said,

“We received a report of the case of kidnapping from a complainant and our men swung into action.

“We were able to arrest two suspects in connection with the crime and they are undergoing investigation. We will charge them to court for prosecution as soon as we conclude our investigation.”

The suspects who are said to be neighbours with the boy abducted and killed him after collecting a ransom of N5.5 million from the parents.

The father of the deceased, Mohammed Suleiman, who spoke with journalists said:

“On Thursday, 2nd April, 2020 the suspects called me on phone and asked if I was the father of Sadiq and I answered them yes.

“They told me that they abducted him and told me that they needed N10 million and if I didn’t bring the money, they would kill him.”

Suleiman said that after they dropped the call, he called his wife and asked her where Sadiq was, so she searched the house but could not find him.

“I am among the medical doctors selected to be part of the task force on fighting Coronavirus in the state, so I drove back home. After two days they called me again and asked me to give them seven million naira, so they collected some amount of money that I had.

“Then, they sent me three different account numbers and asked me to deposit the money in to the three account numbers which I complied. So, they told me that after evening prayer around 7pm, I should go and take my son at Inkil village, later they called me and asked me to go to Kangere near some churches that I’ll see my son. We went there with my brothers and searched for the boy but we didn’t see him.

“We came back and I received a call from the Police, since we reported the matter to them, that they have arrested three suspects in connection with the incident. They asked me to come and see them because they confessed that they are responsible for the kidnapping of my son,” he narrated.

Suleiman added that:

“When I went there, I found out that one of them bought a brand new Mercedes Benz car of N2.3 million, they also bought three phones each costing N160,000.”

Suleiman said that the Police told them last Friday that the suspects who abducted his son had killed him adding that they took the Police to a place where they buried his remains.

He said:

“The Police invited us to the scene where they buried him we dug the grave and found his dead body, we took it to the Hospital where he was certified dead by a medical Doctor.

“The Doctor, in his report, said they stabbed my son on his neck, and he was also hit with something on his head. We retrieved his body which we buried according to Islamic rights”.

Suleiman called for justice to be done to his son by the authorities in order to serve as a deterrent to others noting that “we believe they killed him after collecting the ransom because they allowed me to speak with my boy one time after we gave them the money.”
