Tragedy struck over the weekend in Dambatta Local Government Area of Kano State when two siblings lost their lives in a building collapse triggered by torrential rainfall.
According to DailyTrust, the incident occurred while the family was asleep, as the heavy downpour caused a section of their two-bedroom house to collapse.
Three other children from the same family were also trapped under the debris but were rescued with the help of neighbors.
However, they are currently in critical condition.
The father of the victims, Malam Ikramatu Dambatta, recounted the harrowing experience, saying, “The wall collapsed on us while it was raining. Before we could fully grasp what was happening, two of my children had died, but we managed to rescue three others.”
Malam Dambatta appealed to the government and well-meaning individuals for assistance in rebuilding his home, which was reduced to rubble during the incident.
