Police officers from the Mabushi Division of the Federal Capital Territory Command have stopped a robbery attack at Royal Court Estate, Jahi II, Abuja. Two suspects were arrested after a gun battle.

The robbery attempt happened in the early hours of Wednesday, March 27, around 3:20 a.m. after the police received a distress call from the estate.

According to a statement released on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the robbers opened fire on the officers when they arrived, but the police overpowered them.

“On March 27, 2025, at about 3:20 a.m., operatives of the Mabushi Division responded swiftly to a distress call reporting an ongoing robbery at Royal Court Estate, Jahi II,” Adeh said.

“Upon arrival at the scene, the police operatives were engaged in a gun duel by the hoodlums. However, the suspects were overpowered by the superior firepower of the police and attempted to flee with gunshot injuries. A hot pursuit ensued, leading to the arrest of two suspects — Rabiu Jubril and Ibrahim Isa, both residents of Tipper Garage, Jahi.”

The police recovered several items from the suspects. These include two locally made guns, three suspected stolen vehicles — a black Toyota Matrix (NBS 348 CP), a black Toyota Venza (ABJ 105 AV), and a grey Lexus IS350 (RSH 295 CB).

Also recovered were two MacBook Pro laptops, a Lenovo laptop, an iPad, a PS4 gaming console, a Canon IP1224 camera, and a drone camera.

SP Adeh said the suspects are in police custody and will be taken to court once investigations are completed.

The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ajao Adewale, advised residents to take their security seriously and install tracking devices in their vehicles to make recovery easier in case of theft.
