The Kano State Fire Service has confirmed that two teenage boys drowned while swimming in a stream at Hayin Yawa Gada, Tudun Wada Local Government Area of the state.

The victims, identified as 15-year-old Habu Sani and Haruna Isah, reportedly entered the stream for a casual swim before they got swept away.

The Public Relations Officer of the Fire Service, Saminu Abdullahi, confirmed the incident in a statement released on Saturday.

“On Thursday, 9th October 2025, our Emergency Response Unit in Tudun Wada received a call around 2:00 p.m. from CG Hisba about two children who drowned in a stream at Hayin Yawa Gada,” he said.

“Our men arrived at the scene and found the two boys. They were rescued from the water unconscious but were later confirmed dead. Their bodies were handed over to Inspector Usaini Iliya of Tudun Wada Police Division,” Abdullahi added.

In a separate incident, the fire service also recovered the body of a man who died after falling into a well at Jaba Masaka Shago Tara on Friday morning.

Abdullahi said, “We got a call from the P & G Kwalli Police Division around 8:15 a.m. on Friday, 10th October 2025, reporting the discovery of a human body in a well. Our team removed the body and handed it over to the Ward Head of the area, Ado Idris.”

He appealed to parents and community leaders to watch over children and prevent them from swimming in unsafe open waters.

Similar drowning cases have been reported in the state. In July, a 17-year-old boy, Lurwanu Suleiman, died after drowning in open water at Dandalama village, Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area.
