Twitter, Google block Niger Delta Avengers from using their platforms
Social media platform, Twitter and internet giant Google have blocked the Niger Delta Avengers from using their platforms.
Twitter suspended the militant group’s account while Google deleted their blog.
A check on their official twitter page, @NDAvengers only reads; “Account suspended! This account has been suspended. Learn more about why Twitter suspends accounts, or return to your timeline.”
The www.nigerdeltaavengers.com website reads: “404. That’s an error. The requested URL / was not found on this server. That’s all we know.”
The militant group has been using the account to announce attacks it has carried out on oil installations. The group still made an announcement of a fresh attack on a Chevron installation hours before its account on the two platforms were blocked.
According to reports, the group’s activities have reduced Nigeria’s oil production to its lowest level in 30 year.
Spokesman of the Avengers, Mudoch Agbinibo has confirmed the groups’ suspension from both platforms.
He passed the information via a Facebook page.
“Notice! This is to bring to your notice that our twitter handle @www.twitter.com/@ndavengers has
been suspended and our blog @www.nigerdeltaavengers disabled.
“We use this medium to appeal to our fans and supporter to be very careful with any website or twitter claiming to represent us. We shall launch new accounts soon! We must continue the struggle!!!”
Meanwhile, @BiafraRadio has condemned Twitter and Google for suspending the militants’ accounts.
It is irresponsible and unprofessional for @twitter to suspend the account of @NDAvengers who protect what belongs to them from oil thieves.
