Tuchel cautions Man Utd’s Cavani ahead of PSG reunion at Old Trafford
Paris Saint Germain boss, Thomas Tuchel has cautioned Manchester United’s Edinson Cavani ahead of both clubs’ Champions League clash on Wednesday night.
Cavani who joined PSG from Napoli in 2013 became the club’s all-time leading scorer with 200 goals but left after his contract ended with the French giants after the 2020 season.
The Uruguayan made the headlined on Sunday after coming in as a substitute to score two goals and make one assist as United secured a dramatic comeback win against Southampton despite going behind by two goals.
“I’m happy for him personally that he could show this to all Man United fans in the last game against Southampton, where he was absolutely decisive for them,” Tuchel said of his former striker’s heroics.
He, however, cautioned that “he(Cavani) does not need to show it (on Wednesday night), we already know, so he can do a little pause! It’s not necessary to show us. If he plays, we must find answers for that.”
Speaking on Cavani’s controversial racism post on social media, Tuchel said: “I’m surprised because I know Edi as a calm person, determined on the pitch to help the team.
“This determination is a rare characteristic for a striker of his quality – always ready to do everything for the team. He has a big physical impact, scoring comes very naturally for him. He’s reliable 24/7. You can call him in the night and he’d be there to score and to defend.” [Sky Sports]
