United States President Donald Trump has announced that he will not attend the wedding ceremony of his son, Donald Trump Jr., citing official government responsibilities and his commitment to the country.
According to The Punch, Trump made the announcement in a post shared on his Truth Social account on Friday, explaining that affairs of state would prevent him from being present at the ceremony involving Donald Trump Jr. and his fiancée, Bettina Anderson.
“While I very much wanted to be with my son, Don Jr., and the newest member of the Trump Family, his soon to be wife, Bettina, circumstances pertaining to Government, and my love for the United States of America, do not allow me to do so,” Trump said.
The American president described the period as an important time for the country, noting that his duties at the White House required his full attention.
Despite his absence, Trump congratulated his son and his future daughter in law ahead of the wedding ceremony.
The announcement has since sparked reactions online, with supporters praising his commitment to governance while critics questioned the decision to prioritise official duties over a major family event.
