Five people lost their lives in a collision involving a Mack truck and a Honda Accord car in Ogun State. The crash occurred around 6 am on Sunday at the Ososa junction on the Lagos-Benin highway.

According to Florence Okpe, the spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps in Ogun, the victims included seven male adults and one female adult.

The crash resulted in one person sustaining injuries, while five individuals were tragically killed, comprising four male adults and one female adult. Two other occupants of the vehicles escaped unharmed.

“One person was injured and five persons were recorded dead, four male adults and one female adult, while two persons were unhurt,” Okpe stated.

Okpe attributed the collision to speeding and incorrect overtaking by the Honda car, leading to a side collision with the truck.

The injured person was promptly taken to the General Hospital in Ijebu-Ode, while the deceased were transferred to the same hospital’s morgue.

The FRSC is expected to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision to determine any additional factors contributing to the tragedy.
