Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have uncovered an improvised explosive device (IED) along the Damboa–Komala road and arrested two suspects believed to be supplying logistics to Boko Haram terrorists operating around Kirawa in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.

The Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation Hadin Kai, Lt. Col. Sani Uba, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday.

He said the operations were carried out between December 17 and 19, 2025.

According to the statement, “Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, under Operations Desert Sanity IV and V, have recorded further operational successes with the discovery and neutralisation of an IED and the arrest of suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorist logistics suppliers in Borno State.”

Lt. Col. Uba explained further, “In one operation, troops of the 25 Brigade, while conducting a Main Supply Route patrol along the Damboa–Komala axis on 17 December, discovered an IED.

“The device was promptly secured and safely detonated, ensuring the safety of troops and commuters along the route.”
The development occurred less than 24 hours after troops intercepted two pick-up vans suspected to be conveying logistics supplies to Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists within the state.
The statement added that further operations, based on credible human intelligence, led to the interception of vehicles transporting items from Dapchi in Yobe State toward Magumeri in Borno State.

Items recovered during the operations included two civilian vehicles, 31 spare tyres, 23 spare rims, two bicycles, 12 ignition key starters, three alternators, bags of flour and charcoal, a mattress, tubers of yam, blankets, garri, assorted clothing, a power bank, six mobile phones and cash in various denominations.

Lt. Col. Uba said the drivers of the intercepted vehicles, along with the recovered items, are currently in military custody and undergoing further interrogation to establish the extent of their involvement and to support ongoing counter-terrorism investigations.
