Troops of the Joint Task Force under Operation HADIN KAI have successfully foiled several attacks by Boko Haram/ISWAP insurgents and arrested 17 suspected collaborators in Borno State.

The military reported that troops prevented an attack in Damboa after detecting movements of insurgents in the area.

“Troops deployed at Damboa thwarted a planned Boko Haram/ISWAP attack… forcing them to withdraw in disarray.”

Similar insurgent assaults in Gwoza and Askira Uba were also repelled, with fighters retreating toward the Mandara Mountains.

In addition, troops discovered and safely detonated an Improvised Explosive Device along the Goniri–Ngamdu road.

In a significant breakthrough, two truckloads of supplies suspected to be intended for terrorists were intercepted along the Maiduguri–Mafa road.

“The consignments… included medical drugs, motorcycle tubes and tyres, mosquito nets, rolls of mats, air filter cylinders, and detergents.”

Several suspects linked to the intercepted supplies were apprehended. A suspected logistics supplier, Mohammed Adamu, was arrested with N624,900 and other items, while 13 more suspects were detained in Gubio.

Two additional suspects reportedly admitted to supplying materials to insurgents over an extended period.

Troops also arrested a suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP member, Abubakar Ali, alias “Saina,” at the Kilo Papa checkpoint.

“Further interrogation revealed that the suspect was on a suspected reconnaissance mission.”

In separate operations, a suspected kidnapper was apprehended, and 450 wraps of suspected marijuana were recovered during clearance activities.

The military commended the troops for their vigilance and reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining operations aimed at eliminating insurgency in the North-East.
